Day 230: Reading experiences!

I read a lot. Actually I am also myself wondering how an earth I have time to read when I have the feeling that I am all the time knitting or crocheting. But anyway - even this year I have had reading experiences which I wanna share with you.

Day 161: Always learning!

This is from book which I have been reading a lot. It is one of my favorite in area of testing. Now I finally have some explanation why I am studying all the time - I want to be a good tester. (Maybe I should rethink my current position as method expert and start looking for open vacancies for testers...)

Book is "Lessons Learned in Software Testing" by Cem Kaner, James Bach and Bret Pettichord.

Day 148: Visitor!

I have a visitor here in Helsinki. Me and my husband we decided to spend yet another weekend here in Helsinki. Last time it was when there was this concert of Vesa-Matti Loiri. Since I don't have TV here he spends his time reading - but actually that is what he is doing even at home. So no big difference are we in Naantali or in Helsinki. Books are everywhere!

Day 147: Past my bedtime?

Well - there are evenings when I do something so intensive that I totally forget to check the time. This evening I was reading my newest work related book "Agile Testing" and then suddenly I realize that it is far past my bedtime.

Day 132: What is inside my bag?

The content of my bag is very much depending where I am, where I am going to be and what I am going to do. But perhaps this is not the normal stuff who are having with you when sitting in theater. It is not so clear but yes - there is book in my bag! I was reading it during half time. And camera - of course - for documenting this.

Day 124: To be relinquished!

During summer vacation we inventories every and each fiction book we own. The result was that there are books we can relinquish - and yet still those books are with us. It is not so easy...

Day 75: He's my man!

Summer vacation ended and it was Sunday. Next morning I would travel to Helsinki. I felt little stressed because vacation was over but my husband didn't take any pressure for that - he was sitting and reading - his favorite hobby.

Day 69: Have to own the book!

Both me and husband like to read. And we both have the same approach: we have to own books - it is not the same to go to library. For several years we have planned to go through every and each book we own and create some kind of database (we both are working in it business...). And yes - we did it. This time only for fiction part of our home "library". And the result was .... (drumming) ... 1162 books.

My daughters who are not so interested in owning books (and to be honest: not reading so much)  already calculated something like this: when you die we sell these books and if are selling them 1 euro per book we will have over 1000 euro. Well - it is nice to know that they have plans already in place. Some kind of foolishess would that be if we are not selling them ourselves and using the money for something nice.

Day 18: What to do on another rainy day?

Yesterday it was great day: sun was shining and it was warm. Today it has been totally different kind of weather. We have not been spending time on our back yard - instead I was sitting in balcony reading "The Scarpetta Factor" by Patricia Cornwell - one of my favorite authors. My husband was mainly watching TV but spent some time with me in balcony. He was reading "The Summer of Dead Toys" written by Antonio Hill.

My youngest daughter (18 years) is here together with her friend. They got bored and asked me to play Trivial Pursuit with them. I have to say I am not very good at this game. I prefer other kind of games but since it was raining outside and reading made me sleepy I decided to show my stupidity.

Day 17: Where is my paradise?

My paradise is located on our backyard in Naantali. Last summer we put lot of money and time to create our own little paradise and we did succeed - at least we feel like it. Today, on sunny Midsummer Friday, I spent most of the day sitting in backyard - reading book and drinking cold drinks. And one ice creams! If only there would be more these sunny days and I would be more often at home in Naantali.

Day 8: What is wrong in this picture?

I decided to visit Linnanmäki amusement park since it was sunny evening. It is not far away from my rented flat ("love nest".) I took my camera and one book with me. I can sit for hours reading and watching people. I do that a lot also in Naantali near Moomin World. I like to see the happiness in children's faces. And sometime I feel sorry for parents struggling with their tired crying children.

As always - the smell of pop corns and candyfloss was strong. Children were walking and eating and of course - there was all time time something dropping on the ground. Seagulls were eating what ever they could find.  But truth is that these seagulls are not starving - it is  the other way round.

But my idea of Linnanmäki diet is little bit different. It is not based on pop corn or candyfloss. The key word is "Fun path", and to be exact, mirrors in there. So, what is wrong in this picture?
