Day 242: Sun is shining!

Today sun was shining at least here in Naantali. Notice the footprints in the teracce - they are my husband's. He has not been dancing there - he checked whether there is still something to eat for birds. Today we saw black bird in our teracce but I didn't have my camera ready.

Day 227: Another sick bird!

I am now really worried. I saw another sick blue tit in our feeding area. First it was just sitting and watching to nowhere. Then suddenly it started to peck the plastic wall - I think it tried to get nuts shown there. After a while it stopped, picked up some grain and flied away. We definitely need to disinfect containers again and sweep all dropped grains and nuts under the containers. I really don't want all the birds to get sick!

Day 179: I am sick!

At least I think that this little blue tit is sick. I have read that if blue tit is fluffed up like this poor one - it means it is sick. So, we have now washed our feeding plates just to be sure.

Day 172: Squirrel!

Last winter we had several squirrels in our back yard eating nuts we were offering for birds. This year we changed the place where are offering nuts so that squirrels wouldn't come and disturb birds. But still - there was one squirrel in our teracce. Maybe it was eating something birds had dropped down but I really hope that this year these nice looking animals are not bothering birds! Note that this guy already had his winter coat on.

Day 171: Blackbird in our back yard!

Last winter during Xmas time we first time ever saw blackbird in our backyard. And yes - he is back. I am so happy to see other birds than tits only in our feeding area.

Day 166: Ready for action!

Now I am ready for photoing birds in our feeding area when ever birds are there and I am on the other side of window during daylight.

Day 159: One sexy bird!

I can't help having this odd mental image when looking this photo. For me it looks like that one sexy bird is getting ready for pole dance.

Day 156: I got it!

As said - I love to watch birds. Watch and photo. Now when we have started "the winter feeding" season I have possibility - on those days when remote working here in Naantali - to photo birds visiting our bird feeders. So far I have only seen blue tits (as in this photo and in yesterday's post) and great tits but looking forward also for other species.

Day 155: Time to exercise!

I had very busy day but during lunch I manage to photo blue tit exercising while another one was eating. I like this photo! Even I know as fact that blue tit is not exercising, I got the mental image - he is exercising. Maybe he is also dieting...

Day 151: Could be better!

Me and my husband went for a short walk today. I was hopeful - I might be able to photo some birds since it was quite nice weather. But not so lucky - have to say. All birds were so quick and busy that they didn't have time to stop to be photoed. Except this one blackbird. Only three photos and this is the best of those. Focus is not in the bird so I think this could be better but on the other hand, it is quite nice as it is.

Day 116: Shy!

This duck was either shy or bored with people photographing all the time.

Day 42: What a family!

Today I visit the Old Town. I don't know why we are calling that part of Naantali so because for me it is more like shore (I used to say that I am going to Naantali shore) or marina (since there are lot of boats). That is the place where I sometimes just sit reading a book and watching people. But not today.

Today I was watching this beautiful family: how mother duck was taking care of all those little ducks. I wasn't the only one. Lot of people stopped to watch these little ducks and especially children were excited.

Day 12: How many there are living under our roof?

I noticed one week ago that we have bird habitants living under our roof. Today I finally managed to photograph activities under our roof. There I was standing outside in the rain (yes - it is rainy Sunday) and staring corner of our wall. My neck is not thanking for doing that.

I have no idea how many young birds there are but mother and father tit were flying on and off with worms or something in their mouth. In this collage are some of the photos I managed to took while standing there in the rain. Few years ago I wouldn't have been interested at all and most likely not even noticed these birds. Photography has changed me this way - as mentioned already in yesterday's blog post.
